First described in 1981, this fragrant mint is known from only two locations, both on the Altamaha River sandridge. It is an annual mint, but has a strong smell of cinnamon when crushed. Its striking pink flowers are nearly 5 cm long. Numbers of individuals vary greatly from year to year as seed production, germination, and seedling mortality vary. Loss of these two populations would result in extinction in the wild.
