This section of the Summit to the Sea web site contains information pages designed for various age groups, and will include lesson plans and suggested exercises that will relate to the information found in the pages.

We begin with a section which addresses Georgia QCC's of 7th and 8th grade, but the material would be appropriate for high school biology and environmental science classes.

Because this web site is growing and changing, we welcome suggestions about ways to improve the information presented as well as reports of errors of fact, spelling or omission. Feel free to send suggestions, corrections or other comments to the webmaster.

Working with Watersheds: An Educational Resource Binder for the Environmentally Aware Educator.

As part of the Upper Altamaha Practicum, graduate students Sofia Arce-Flores, Caroline McFarlin, Sara Pilzer, and Stacey Vigil, with assistance from faculty of the University of Georgia River Basin Center, Institute of Ecology, Department of Marine Sciences, Warnell School of Forest Resources, and College of Education, created a middle school educational curriculum about watersheds that meets the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) for 7th grade Life Sciences. The curriculum is formatted for printing. They also created an educational poster for use in classrooms.

Watershed Connections: A Guide to Watershed Activities for Georgia Teachers

Watershed Connections: A Guide to Watershed Activities for Georgia Teachers is the creation of graduate students enrolled in the Altamaha Practicum at the University of Georgia. There is a wealth of information about watersheds and watershed activities for students; he goal of this project is to reduce the workload for teachers so that activities are easy to find and incorporate into Georgia's Quality Core Curriculum (QCC). Activities were chosen to represent the wide range of topics that relate to watershed studies. The activities were categorized and cross-referenced with the QCC. The activities are also available in hard copy at the University of Georgia's Institute of Ecology and/or School of Education.
