Anything that happens on the land, in the water, or in the air of your watershed has an effect on the people, animals, and plants that live in the watershed. Because we all depend on water to live, the health of our watersheds is vital to both human and natural communities. Water is not the only thing that is transported to streams; watersheds also drain particles and dissolved materials. These particles and dissolved materials, which may include nutrients, sediment, and toxins, affect the living things in and around the water- including humans. The activities in this unit address important issues in our watersheds. Water quality (QCC S.8.5)Who dirtied the water? Clean water: is it drinkable?
