Director for Policy and Managing Director Laurie Fowler (Law/Ecology)
Laurie Fowler is the Associate Dean for Administrative and External Affairs for UGA's Odum School of Ecology. As an environmental and land-use attorney, she serves on the faculty of both the Odum School of Ecology and the School of Law. In addition to teaching courses in environmental law, she teaches service learning courses that allow students to apply policy, design, and ecological principles in working with stakeholders to manage and protect water resources. Ms. Fowler's research interests include federal, state, and local environmental protection laws and policies; watershed protection strategies; growth management and open space preservation; land use planning; conservation easements; environmental justice; citizen participation; and service learning.
Director for Science Seth Wenger (Ecology)
Seth Wenger joins the faculty of the Odum School of Ecology in January 2014 as an assistant professor and Director for Science of the River Basin Center. An aquatic ecologist, he received his Master's in Conservation Ecology and Sustainable Development in 1999 and his Ph.D. in 2006, both from the University of Georgia. He most recently served as a research scientist at the nonprofit Trout Unlimited. His research interests include species distribution modeling, climate change impacts, conservation planning, and stream ecology.
