This report by Institute of Ecology graduate student Jeffrey Boring
assesses how the pattern of development will affect stream health, rural
character and pubic costs in the Upper Etowah Region. The study was
funded by the Urban and Community Forestry Program of the Georgia Forestry
Commission.

Value of Georgia's Trees
The Institute of Ecology Office of Public Service and Outreach's
Nanette Nelson received a grant from the Urban and Community Forestry
Program administered through the Georgia Forestry Commission to research
the effects of trees on property values.
Alcovy Watershed Protection Project
The Institute of Ecology Office of Public Service and Outreach helped
assess the impacts of growth to the health of the Alcovy River, and
formulate strategies to minimize their negative effects.
DeKalb County Zoning Ordinance Review
The DeKalb County Commission asked the Office of Public Service and
Outreach's Laurie Fowler to review its new zoning ordinance to make
sure it was in line with the Commission's smart growth objectives.
