science and policy research: urban streams 2nd Symposium on Urbanization and Stream Ecology Salt Lake Plaza Hotel, Salt Lake City, Utah The meeting was highly successful. We had 116 attendees from 8 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, New Zealand, Spain, Taiwan and the U.S. Attendees represented various disciplinary perspectives, among them ecology, hydrology, geomorphology, engineering, microbiology, sociology and planning, and came from academia, government, and non-governmental organizations. In addition to presentations, the meeting included discussions of the major outstanding research questions in urban stream ecology. We broke into four groups which produced a total of 19 questions.
