how can i prevent erosion on my property?
See the Chesapeake
Bay Foundation Web site for great suggestions on how to reduce erosion
on your property.
Here are four examples:
- Build driveways and footpaths using gravel, crushed stone, brick,
or wood instead of asphalt or concrete
- Seed newly graded areas immediately after earth-moving is completed,
and mulch heavily with hay until seedlings take hold.
- Install house gutters and downspouts that discharge onto the lawn,
not onto the pavement.
- Rain gardens (How-to-guide
from University of Wisconsin Extension in PDF format)
